OnePlus Buds Z Review : With a price below Rs. 3000, One plus buds Z might be the company’s best product at such a price yet with such amazing capacities. The company has made its entry into the wireless audio segment with the OnePlus Buds.

Though this product is a good one, it seemed lacking when compared to the others in the market, but with the latest release by the company, they seem to be once again competing with the best.

Design and Specifications

The OnePlus Buds are a pair of buds enclosed in a capsule-like charging case with the buds positioned horizontally. Though they fit in and latch in place via a magnetic lock, this seems odd and a bit strange to users adapted to the vertically placed headsets. It features an indicator light at the front and a USB Type-C charging port and a pairing button at the back.

The OnePlus Buds comes in two colors; white and gray. These colors seem a bit dull and boring as compared to other headsets with various cool and flashy colors.

The buds are touch-sensitive and do not have buttons. This can be customized directly through OxygenOS Bluetooth settings if you have an OnePlus smartphone. Only the double-tap function is available on each earpiece and this can be used to pause/play music, skip songs, or access the voice assistant on your smartphone.

Review of OnePlus Buds Z

The OnePlus buds Z, similar to the OnePlus buds can’t be switched off but rather uses wear detection where the music is played or paused when the headset is put on or taken off.

The earphones feature Bluetooth 5.0 and offer support for the Dolby Atmos, SBC, and AAC Bluetooth codecs as well as a  USB Type-C fast charging. The ear tips are fitted with silicone which makes them comfortable while placed in the ears and it can be used for hours on end with no discomfort.

Furthermore, It comes with two additional pairs of silicone ear tips in different sizes in addition to the one already fitted on the headsets themselves as well as a USB Type-C charging cable.

Performance and Battery Life

OnePlus Buds Z features

The OnePlus Buds Z features a significant improvement in sound quality as compared to the company’s first attempt that had a poor bass tuning. The credit for the improvement might be given to the design with makes it well-fitting and causes it to isolate outside sounds, therefore making the sound well-directed.

The OnePlus Buds Z features enough detail and precision in the sound quality. Each sound even to the tiniest details of the instruments came cleanly and clearly. The in-canal fit which made it well-fitting made the sound clearer and helped to isolate outside sounds. Hence, makes listening to music via the earphone an addictive experience which is very rare for earphones at this price.

The bass came in heavy and clean but not excessive which made it well refined as compared to the OnePlus buds. And the fine-tuning of the bass made the mids and the highs clear and well-tuned even while playing heavy bass music. Despite the affordable price, the OnePlus Buds Z headsets enunciated the sounds in audio tracks and music so finely and featuring clear lows even with high-resolution audio.

The headset features a wide soundstage which makes the cheers from crowds while listening to music even distinct.

OnePlus Buds Z features

Though not as wide or impressive as its more expensive counterparts, the OnePlus Buds Z headset was still able to give a clear and well-defined sound that was enjoyable and easy to listen to for hours on end considering its affordable price.

The more impressive part about the headsets is their ability to keep up even with fast tracks and to sound good with genres.

Though the OnePlus Buds Z does not feature Active Noise Cancellation, there is environmental noise cancellation which improves the quality of your voice while making calls. Calling quality is just fine, if there is nothing impressive then nothing bad either. So no complaints.

The battery life on the OnePlus Buds Z is about 17 hours per charge cycle and with mixed usage, it lasts around 4 hours with an additional three full charges from the charging case. It supports fast charging and has a claim of 3 hours of listening time from 10 minutes of charging.

OnePlus Buds Z Review Conclusion

The OnePlus Buds Z is a pretty good headset for its price, and despite being lesser in price than the OnePlus Buds headset, it far surpasses it in terms of sound quality as well as fit and comfort. It also has good sound while calling which is an added advantage. Though the performance might not be at its best when compared to some excellent earbuds however the price point needs to be kept in mind.

Though the features are fully unlocked only when you use an OnePlus Smartphone it is still a very good earphone and one that would be a good recommendation for those searching for a good earphone on a tight budget.
