Samsung AKG-Y500 Design and Specifications

The design of this wireless headphone is quite appealing, only few headset producers know their way around getting good styling done. This makes Samsung AKG Y500 stand out, and that makes it looks so modern and eye-catchy. It is one of the company’s better-looking wireless headsets – built impressively.

They come in different colours, blue, black, pink and green. It’s compact and easy to take around due to the relatively thin frame and ear cups can fold inward to be stored away easily.
It’s not heavy and comes with a slightly loose joint. The headband length is adjustable, which makes it quite inconvenient, as they constantly tend to stray away from the adjusted position.

Also, the headsets have a folding mechanism that makes its storage easy. On the right side cup is a sliding switch that doubles up for Bluetooth pin and ambient switch; Micro USB port, which seems disappointing and stressful. Pressing the ambient switch helps reduces the sound volume to hear outside sound, and long-pressing mutes the headset until it gets pressed again. Although, this functionality seems useful, with time it’s become so frustrating and time-wasting. It is much easier to pause or remove instead of making use of this feature when the need to listen to outside noise arises.

On the left-hand, side cup is a slider switch that controls volume with a quick motion and allows user skin to Next/Previous track by sliding and holding for two seconds. Play and pause buttons are also available to stop or play music and the Google voice assistant feature can be activated by double-tapping.

Furthermore, a 2.55mm socket is included that allows users with a non-Bluetooth source device, instead of using when the power runs down, you can connect directly to a phone jack or MP3 for continual music listening.

Looking at the features above, nothing seems special or new; while that is not all Samsung AKG-Y50 has to offer. Another interesting feature of Samsung AKG-Y500 is the ability to get paused automatically when the headphone is taken off and continue playing when placed back ears. This is interesting, but the downside is that to activate this functionality the headset needs to be taken off and placed back with a fast pace to trigger the sensor that controls this function. It is kind of childish and frustrating if it not done right.

Also, it can be connected with two devices at once. While it was connected with two devices, switching simultaneously seems difficult. And it’s also difficult switching music between the two devices. The solution is to disconnect one before connecting another.

Samsung AKG Y500 Performance

Samsung AKG Y500 headphone

On Testing AKG Y500 with One Plus 7T Pro listen to the music of different Genre, the performance seems overwhelming. From what people have always said about AKG headphones, given the price of Samsung AKG Y500, it is a completely different product and the sound is totally off the rail. It does not sound like that of a typical AKG acoustics sound. The sound signature is like those of average headphones we’ve always been listening to.

Basement Jaxx’s Summer Dem was played with AKG Y500, the sound was punchy, cool and pleasantly reverberation, with little difficulty hearing the lyrics. The mid-range was somewhat dull but a little sense was made out of the vocals.

However, the poor noise isolation system means outside noise can easily interrupt sounds, and the headphone couldn’t meet up with the expectations. Sound leakage was also experienced at high volume but it wasn’t more than the ones that have been experienced from other on-ear headphones.

Samsung AKG Y500 Review Conclusion

I would like to conclude this Samsung AKG Y500 Review with a short note that, Although Samsung AKG Y500 comes with shortcomings, it is not totally bad, but it can’t be giving 5.0 ratings. The design is cool, the sound is decent enough and the device is lightweight. However, nothing is premium and it doesn’t live up to what the brand was known for.
Taking the battery life into consideration, it is decent enough and that makes up for the lack of creativity in design. At Rs.9999 the AKG Y500 is why expensive for the designs, performance, and battery life.
