SkullCandy Crusher ANC Design and Specifications

SkullCandy Crusher ANC design looks completely different from others, it is typically focused on colours and it’s distinct Skull face logo, rather than being like others. The crusher ANC looks similar to the crushed wireless Headphones. What makes the two different is the slight bulge in the ear cups and noise cancellations on the new model.

If you are looking for a noise cancellation headset with a premium looks maybe you should look for another gadget. The design is not what should be expected of a premium headset.

When compared to other top-notch wireless headsets like Jabra Elite 85h and Sony WH-1000XM3. If by chance you don’t like the default colour, there are other colour options – black/tan and black.

The headset is big and comfortable, the head caps completely cover the ears when putting on, which offer decent passive noise cancellation and sound leakage that does not affect the sound quality in any way even at high volumes. There is no problem wearing the headphone for hours, which is due to the thick padding around the ear cups and another side of the headband.

On the right side of the earcup of Crusher ANC is the volume and playback controls, it also houses the USB Type -C port for charging and 3.5mm socket to connect the audio cable for wired listening. Pressing the playback button twice triggers the Google Assistant paired with a smartphone.

Finally, the outer part of the left ear cup comes with a touch sensor that controls the ambient mode. Tapping the sensor turns off noise cancellation and allows the sound from the outside filter into the headphones.

The headset makes use of Bluetooth 5 for easy connectivity at a long-range. It has a 40mm dynamic driver for each side, and a frequency response range of 20- 20,000Hz. Apart from the drivers on both sides, there is an additional driver for bass.

The connection was stable and we never noticed any drop in connectivity. After Connecting with my Nokia 6.1 Plus and One Plus 7T we started doing experiments with a variety of tracks, from bass boosted tracks to vocal-oriented tracks we tried almost 100 of tracks. The first thing we noticed that it sounds great.

Putting the sound quality and performance into consideration, the Crusher ANC is classic and different from others in this price range, thanks to its hardware coupled with software. The additional element of the bass that gives the headphones a complete success is the completely different sound that differentiates it from the rest.

With the slider at just 25-30 per cent, the Crusher ANC delivers the most intense and punchiest bass that any pair of headphones can ever deliver.

With the bass set to too high, it actually overpowers the rest of the frequency range, despite the dual-driver setup. You can adjust the bass, and when you do it, the vocal part and lows of the tracks get really clear and mesmerizing. Overall the sound quality was clean, detailed, and engaging.

In Sound quality, it easily goes up against the some of the best headphones in the space, including the Sennheiser Momentum 3 Wireless and Bose QuietComfort 35 II we reviewed here. However, when we talk about noise cancellation capabilities, the Crusher ANC doesn’t quite live up to those expectations, it just reduces some of the noise but it simply doesn’t cut out as much noise as it should.

It features mic, so we also used it for voice and video calls, the sound was decent on both ends, but it somehow makes callers’ voices a bit too soft. Which is acceptable and doesn’t cause any problem but mentioning even small details is our job.

On the document and amazon listing, battery life is claimed of up to 24 hours, but we never get the same result. We were using it with noise cancellation switched on and the bass slider set to a reasonable level and every time we get around 16-17 hours of listening. It is good but we actually we were expecting a better result from a premium headphone with price 22k. It also features Fast charging and truely able to provide around 3 hours of playtime with 15 minutes of charging. However, it takes 2 hrs 50 minutes for a full charge.
