Bose QuietComfort 45 Review : Bose for many many years has been a lot of people’s default choice when it comes to over-the-ear noise-canceling headphones. But, recently Apple’s AirPods Max and Sony’s WH-1000XM4 series have turned the table in their favor by providing better sound quality along with superior ANC.
So, to challenge them Bose has finally brought an upgrade which is the all-new Bose QuietComfort 45 claiming to be the world’s best noise-cancelling headphones available right now.
Bose QuietComfort 45 Review
It will be interesting to see just what the Bose QuietComfort 45 has to offer and whether the product will be able to make a name for itself in this highly competitive market.
Let’s find out.
The Design
Featuring a simple, practical design that prominently displays the Bose logo on the sides, and just like the QC 35 the QuietComfort 45 headphones are available in black & White colors. The headphones weigh about 240 grams with equal weight distribution making them suitable for long hours of listening.
The earcups are large enough with a good amount of cushioning and provide a good fit. The plastic feels smooth and sturdy with controls given on both earcups for easy handling. Overall the design looks quite inspired by the previous generation QC35 with some amount of newness on offer.

The Controls
Each earcup comes with a button on the back, which is fairly intuitive but can be a bit strange for people who are used to touch controls
ANC is controlled by the buttons on the right headphone, playback controls by the buttons on the left, & voice assistant is controlled by the toggle on the left. Unfortunately. You cannot turn off the ANC when using the right headphones.
One Tap | Two Tap | Three Tap | Hold
Top Right Button | Volume up
Middle Right Button | Play/Pause Answer/end | Next Track | Previous Track | Decline Call |
Bottom Right Button | Volume Down
Action Button Left | Toggle ANC | Mute | Voice Assistant |
The Connectivity
The Bose QuietComfort 45 uses Bluetooth 5.1 for a seamless wireless connection that ranges up to 9 m before losing out on the audio. Even though the QC 45 is the latest over-the-ear headphone from Bose it still does not support aptX or high-bitrate Bluetooth codecs which is sad.
However, it supports both AAC & SBC codecs and for pairing it uses the Bose music app available for both Android & IOS. The app is also used to toggle between the two modes i.e. Quiet and Aware allowing you to pair it with two different devices simultaneously.

The Battery Life
Well to our surprise, as long as noise canceling is turned on, the Bose QuietComfort 45 lasts 24 hours, 50 minutes longer than Bose’s advertised battery life of 24 hours. The QC 45 can be charged quickly using the USB-C cable, i.e a 15 min quick charge provides you with 180 minutes of playtime.
However, using the included 3.5mm audio cable, you can use the headphones passively, but sadly most phones these days do not have a headphone jack.
Bose QuietComfort 45 Review : The Sound Quality
At default settings, the QC 45 headphones deliver powerful low-frequency responses. The bass depth is strong and does not distort even at the highest, unwise listening levels. Bass is still powerful even at lower, more moderate levels. Higher-frequency sculpting blends well with it as well.
Moreover, you can tune the bass, treble, and mids to your liking with the Bose music app. Also, the quality of the microphone is improved to a much higher level than its predecessor.
Overall the QuietComfort 45 Sounds decent if not the best in this segment.
Moreover, the XM4 and AirPods Max still have a slight edge as you cannot alter the ANC and the app also does not offer enough to adjust the sound to perfection.
QuietComfort 45 Noise Cancellation
Whether you are strolling around in the noisy streets, traveling in an airplane, or experiencing any outside clutter the QC 45 easily restricts the noise making it the best noise-cancellation over-head earphone. But, the only drawback is you cannot toggle it around unlike the Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 or the Apple’s AirPods Max.
But if you are regularly working in an environment where the outside noise is too much to deal with then, QC 45 is the perfect pair of headphones for you.

Our Verdict in Bose QuietComfort 45 Review
So, after a detailed review of QuietComfort 45, we finally concluded that the QC 45 is a decent pair of over-the-ear headphones with arguably the best noise cancellation. But should you buy one now?
Well, if you own a Bose QC 35 or AirPods Max then you should certainly not buy the QuietComfort 45 as these are not much of an upgrade compared to these. However, if you are a new user and want to try out the over-the-ear headphones for the first time then you can consider them.
