Sony WH-XB910N Review: Sony’s extra bass line-up of headphones has always been very popular in India, for the kind of sound profile that it brings and the value it offers.
The latest addition in this series is the Sony WH-XB910N Wireless Headphones priced around Rs.15000, a mid-range pair of headphones costs slightly less than the flagship 1000XM4 but still manages to get some of its features like ANC (active noise cancelling), Bluetooth 5.2, and few others.
Moreover, the Sony WH-XB910N is an upgrade from the previous WH-XB900N launched back in 2019. We have managed to get hands-on with these new over-the-ear wireless headphones for you, so let’s cut the chase and have a look at our unbiased review before making the purchase.
Sony WH-XB910N Review : Design & Build Quality
Even though it is a mid-range pair of headphones Sony manages to provide a carry case which is quite handy and offers a lot of value by protecting them and enhancing their life.
Also, the Sony WH-XB910 comes with an AUX cable and USB type C cable for quick charging.
Blue and Black are the only two color options you get with these headphones. The overall build quality is not that premium like that of the flagship 1000XM4 but Sony still manages to keep it decent enough at this price range.

The foam padding inside offers a comfortable fit and the earcups don’t put extra pressure. The headset is comfortable to use in most scenarios including jogging, walking, or even during a light workout as well.
The headband is flexible and just fits your head size, the earcups can be rotated and folded when the headphones are not in use. The headphones weigh around 252g which is evenly distributed and does not feel heavy at all.
The power and ANC buttons are on the left earcup whereas, the 3.5mm headphone jack is at the bottom. The matte plastic body looks decent enough if not premium along with the Sony badging at both ends of the ear-cups.
Overall Sony manages to provide an impressive retail package, to say the least.
Controls & Battery Life
The control panel on the right earcup can be used to play or pause music along with skipping a track. Also, you can control the volume level and activate the voice assistant with the same.
All these basic controls have good feedback and are highly responsive.

The battery life on these headphones is exceptional as Sony promises a total playback of 30 hours of wireless playback with ANC turned on and a whopping 50 hours with ANC turned off.
We have been using these headphones for almost a week and are yet to charge them, Also they support fast charging as well which means a 10-minute charging gives 4.5 hours of music playback time which is decent enough. However, a full charge may take up to 3 hours which is a lot.
Sound Quality & Features
The XB910N features 40mm dynamic drivers and it supports different codecs like SBC, AAC, and even LDAC. The headphones live up to the V-shaped sound signature with elevated bass and treble, even though the bass is pushed to a certain extent, the vocals mostly sit in the background.
The sound is mostly one-dimensional and the headphones also leak which is not ideal, but you can balance the sound by adjusting the EQ settings.
For connectivity, it uses Bluetooth 5.2 which works pretty well, as we didn’t face any connectivity or latency issues while using the headset. However, the call quality isn’t impressive, especially when you are outside your house, the audio does deteriorate at times, as the mic does catch outside noise.
Sony allows you to do a lot more than just listen to music on these headphones, that is why they come with plenty of features most of which can be accessed using the Headphones Connect app.

- 5 Band customizable EQ
- 360 Degree Reality Audio
- Multipoint Connectivity
- Supports Google Assistant & Alexa
Another premium feature of the Sony XB910N is the quick attention feature, which was mostly used in a more premium set of Sony’s headphones and TWS. It reduces the volume automatically when you put your hand on the earcups, which is impressive.
Sony WH-XB910N Review: Final Verdict
Ideally, you expect three things from a pair of headphones which are comfort, good audio quality, and decent battery life. The Sony WH-XB910N ticks all these boxes and you also get a protective case, ANC, multipoint connectivity, and many other fancy features.
The only thing we need to consider is the price which is still slightly on the higher side, however, if you like punchy music with a higher bass effect you can certainly go for them without a second thought.
