I was reading the news on a popular news website as per my daily routine, a heading “China is Blackmailing India into Using Huawei 5G – Top US Congressman” caught my eyes. I went through that article but I was not that aware of this controversy, So I left it but suddenly I started researching about 5G, Advantages and Disadvantages of 5G, Speed, bandwidth Towers and everything.

There is various Problem in this technology and I have fear about it. And without a proper and guaranteed solution, it is not acceptable. We manner less technology freak already wiped half the nature and we can’t afford to lose some of the most beautiful creatures of this earth just for speed in file transfer.

I am not a big fan of 2.0 but a small part of that movie have the real guts to show a mirror to us, to our society, and to those humanity less blind people who just want to upgrade things on any cost.

As an Electronics Engineer, I know terms like Bandwidth, coverage, communication system, radiation etc very well. So As per my knowledge and online sources I am going to list down all the advantages and disadvantages of 5G and I am leaving up to you to decide “Just for Speed in file transmission, Are you ready for Towers over the dead bodies of birds??“

Advantages of 5G

Increased Bandwidth for All Users, If you are not friendly with the word “Bandwidth” let me simplify it for you. Bandwidth simply is the amount of “space available for people” who are using data to download files, view web pages, and watch videos, and other cool stuff. Less bandwidth means slow speed, so that white worm on YouTube videos will appear again with text buffering just below that. Now 5G will be more bandwidth on the data networks. This Complete paragraph can be summarized in a single word “Speed”, and if you want to summarize it in two words then “Fast Loading” will be perfect.

Ya, I found something written in Bold and Capital, which is again “SPEEED“.

Now do we have to download solar system at this speed?

Disadvantages of 5G

When 4G was launched, We upgraded our devices, even if people do not want this new technology, most of the service providers forced the customers to upgrade their sim, which was not compatible with older phones and smartphones, in all these, Most of the previous smartphones and Mobiles became Useless. Waste of Money, Waste of Technology, Waste of electronics equipment. Now again repeating all these are really worth?
As per the information, the coverage distance of 5G tower is up to two meters in indoor, and three hundred meters in outdoor. Which is very less compared to 3G and even to 4G. Less coverage means More towers and waves will be needed to maintain the Speed and also to cover a very large area. More towers mean lots of harmful effect on human and animal health and also it will be harmful to the complete environment and nature.
5G has less coverage area because of higher losses at high frequencies such as millimetre waves. 5G millimetre wave suffers from several such losses like penetration loss, attenuation because of rain, foliage loss etc. Users, as well as the service provider, will suffer to maintain speed and quality. From the previous point, More towers mean more manpower to care and maintain the towers and their working, Developing infrastructure needs high cost. And you know service providers, they will charge the customer more, the technology will be more costly to the user directly or indirectly.
Security and privacy issue yet to be solved. Just go to Wikipedia and you will get the best explanation about it.
Now let’s talk about Speed, As per online sources, In India Downloading Speed over 4G network varies drastically, Indore tops the list with 21.6 Mbps downloading speed, while other cities not getting at least half of it. I am in Jaipur and getting 3Mbps downloading speed only. Ya, I know there are various factors which can be considered in the data and speed loss, But think again, You are excited about 5G with lots of expectations and in a packet 0f 5G you are not even getting the speed of 3G. Then what you will do?. My main point is that ” The speed, this technology is claiming seems difficult to achieve (in future, it might be) because of the incompetent technological support in most parts of the world.

Ready for it?

5G network is still in under development stage, there’s no doubt that exciting information is coming from the researchers and reports, But we also can’t ignore all these facts. After reading almost 12 research papers to find something good about this technology but unfortunately, there is nothing more than Speed and Bandwidth.

If we compare the advantages and disadvantages of 5G, then there is no comparison it has lots of drawback and issues which makes me sad for our environment and those beautiful creatures who are dying because of Us.

I deliberately tried to keep this article as short as possible, because I don’t want you to leave this page without reading the main points.

5G is a new technology, and we will use it near future because money is the most powerful thing in this world. In front of money, no-one cares about Human, humanity, nature etc. But it is my request to not accept it until all the problems got resolved. It is not just dangerous for birds but for all.
