Design and Specification
The shape of these earbuds is designed while keeping in mind the comfort level of its users. Although it tried to design some sleek and sporty earbuds in the past this time Sony has designed something unique and it opted for round shaped buds.
The WF-XB700 also matches some design features with Sony’s earbuds released in past. It comes in a pill-shaped case. The size of the case is a bit larger than the earlier case used to be.
The finish of the case is metallic which gives it a classy look. The back of the case has a USB-C connector for charging. Before proceeding to the earbuds, I just want to share that the case lid has a comfortable opening and closing mechanism.
Now come to the earphones, when you pull out these from the case, at the first look, it will look a bit larger than it looks in the pictures and then you will realize why Sony has given the big size case for these earbuds. These earbuds look like giant earbuds.

There are 3 layers of these earbuds. The Outer layer, middle layer, and inner layer. The inner layer is the one that goes inside your ear.
Around the outer layer of each earbud, you will find a button. On the left earbud, you will find a button that is used to control the volume of the earbuds. You can increase or decrease the volume with this button. On the right earbud, you will find a button that controls the playback; you need to press once to play/pause, twice to skip forward; thrice to skip back.
If you want to activate a voice assistant on your phone, then you need to press and hold it. You can press both side buttons to pick up/end calls.

The WF-XB700 is definitely a comfortable pair of earphones. The silicone ear tips in its inner layer are very soft and extremely comfortable which fits in the ears perfectly.

When this product is released, as this is a product of the Extra Bass series, people were under the impression that the sound of these earbuds can be bloated, muddy and with additional noise. But these are not like that. Rather you will get a tight and punchy sound which results in the excitement to listen to the music through it.
The Sony WF-XB700 connectivity with the phone is very easy. All you need to do is get the buds in pairing mode, find them in the list of Bluetooth devices on the phone, and connect.
Call Quality
The connection remains strong for up to 10 meters without any disturbance or obstacles. The call quality of these earbuds is as per the expectation with Sony brand. You can hear the voice clear and loud. The voice quality is as clear and good as it is with the phone’s microphones; however, you can feel a bit of disturbance while talking in outdoor areas.
Battery life
The best part of these earbuds is their battery life which is around 18 hours. Although Sony claims this to 18 hours its battery runs beyond 18 hours. We listened to music through these earbuds for 3 days (almost 8 hours each day) and still, it is not completely discharged. This is much more than the other earbuds of Sony’s competitors including the Galaxy buds and Apple Air pods.

If we talk about the charging time of these earbuds, it takes around 2h 45m to 3h 10m to charge fully. Sony has provided a fast charging solution with these earbuds. If you are out of battery and you want to charge it fast, it can charge for 10 mins and you can get the battery for an hour.
